Well I thought I would keep the blog going even if the band has stopped. As some of you may know, Nik and myself now run a pub in Pontypool called the Hog and Hosper. What's a Hosper? I hear you say. Well answer's on an email to TheHog@HogandHosper.co.uk and the person who has the nearst answer gets a Hog T-Shirt. So the Pub trade keeps ticking away despite the recseeion, infact people need to be in Social company more so now then ever before to keep the doom and gloom away. I believe in entertaining and keeping the ol chin up, if you can. Supermarkets are not helping the cause, infact it can get very soul destroying when you read or hear on the news that pubs are wholefully to blame for under age drinking and binge drinking yet NOONE complains when Supermarkets beam cheap alcohol adverts into your home on a daily basis. When pubs do an all you can drink offer the Media goes mad and weilds its ugly 'its all your fault pubs' stick at us. Not all of us Landlords/Landladies are bad at our job. Infact some of us do a great job, but you dont hear about those because good workers arent News worthy. How many times do you hear on the news that teens are lying in the gutter out of their head after buying drink from a Supermarket or Off Licence? Hardly ever but always about pubs and Clubs. Also a lot of pubs have been hit by the smoking ban. Ok, my pub ahs a massive pation on the front of the pub. Great in the summer (when the sun decides to join in) but in the winter its truly awful. The when the su is shining and everyone is outside, a non smoker complains that he/she is getting disturbed by a smoker. Answer is MOVE, you apparently asked for the smokers to go outside. POh wait ... did you though.. or is it yet another statstic the Government are making up? Probably..
Hi Everybody Its with great sadness that I have to inform everyone that I have had to fold the band due to ill health. I am having some time out from the band but will be doing the occassional solo gig now and again later in the year after I have had the all clear.
I cant expect the guys to hang around waiting for me so its better that a clean break is done now so they can move on to other bands. I have a great time over the 15 years playing and I am proud of how long I have managed to keep the band going and what we have acheived. I should write a book really, it would make very very interesting reading LOL Anyway, thnks a million to everyone who has supported Into The Bleach over the many years and many countries. Take care of yourselves and pop in for a drink if you are ever in Pontypool
On The Move Well I am totally mad and we are now running another pub in South Wales. Pontypool to be exact. It's called the Hog and Hosper and has a music licence for every da of the week. Oh joy of joys! So that means we can put bands on! YES. Thank god for that. Still got the Newbridge Arms in North Wales but someone else is running that for me. That's doing really well and we have some great acts on there as well but w can get more College/Uni bands here which is very exciting.The band is still busy despite both Nik and myself running this place and that place. Check out our Facebook Hog and Hosper I see Labour had a crap night last night. Oh good, time for all the pubs to vote against them. Revenge is sweet Mr Brown and you and your side kick Darling are still banned from my pubs. I also became an Auntie for the first time last week. I am getting bloody lazy at keeping this thing updated. I am currently like the walking dead. We had a fab gig in Southampton with U-rythmics who are ace and we are gigging with them agan at the Robin in October (not July I will update the tour dates later). We had a fab night and got back to Wales for 6am only to get up again to open da Pub so very tired but happy. So we waved bye bye to our lovely Ben last week who did his last gig with us in Belfast. It was an amazing gig and I have loads of lovely photos. There are some on the Belfast Empire site as well. Please note the new dep keyboard player who looks amazingly like Avid Merrion. He will kill me for writing that but it is funny Tee Hee. The week before that we were in Crewe and another fab night was had by all. What a run of gigs. Crewe, Belfast and then Southampton topper most! i hear another Blondie tribute has been using our website and contacting the places where we gig. Very sad and I am not at all surprised any more. Has anybody been watching that One and only show. How tasteless! They did email us to feature on it but thankfully we were far to busy. I actually think that none of them will last in Vegas, the standard is far to high over there. I thought that the show was meant to show the creme de la creme of tribute acts/bands and not a bad rejg of Stars in their eyes. Oh well never mind.. soon be Christmas
Hi everyone. I have just found a few mins to write up the Blog before we see the end of this year. It has been all go here as you can understand. Gigs this month have been great with playing to sell out crowds at Telfords Warehouse in Chester, people where queing around the block, and playing local gigs such as the Roadhouse in Brum ( Thanks Roxy for the email) and also a visit back to Cox's Yard in Stratford. Sadly two gigs were cancelled due to either Pub Closure or problems at the Venue. Its so sad that this is happening.
This year has ben strange. We have had wonderful memebrs leave our band to move onto pastures new and I wish them all the very best and keep in touch. We also have two new wonderful members that are enjoying themselves and are having fun. One is my Brother In Law that some of you have already met and Paul is our new guitarist who has replaced Wes. Paul has been in loads of bands both tribute and original and I hope he enjoys his stay with The Bleach.
Can I also thank all of you that have shown your continued support over the last 13 years. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you, and thanks for showing your support in emails and some of you who phoned to show support when I had bit of trouble during July/August with another band.
Well, the band aren't gigging New Years Eve but I shall be doing a little stint here in the Pub. Fingers crossed it goes well. I get more nervous here then ever!
Hey everyone! Thanks for supporting us at our gigs over the last few weeks. Its been great to see loads of our friends. Great gig in Darlington, the room was heaving with girls and guys who were upp for a great night. We didnt go on untill 12:30 so it was a long time hanging around but it was worth it. We got pegged which is apparently a HUGE compliment. There was a great Debbieesque girl there as well. So top marks. Then the follwoing week it was from north to South and we played at one of our fav venues in bournemouth The Landmarc. Another sellout which was mist excellent and loads of friends came as well. A top night was had by all.We were meant to play in Darlington the day after but the poor bloke is having problems with his neighbours complaining. I know the feeling. Without getting into my politcal rant, this country has gone to the dogs. Bloody Labour need to be booted out and another Government needs putting in place who are willing to take care of the pub and Leisure Industry. I think that Labour basically want all your money in Taxes and have no money left to go out and enjoy yourself. Oh dear did I swear? Maybe we should start a petition to boot this crap Labour Government out. Oh dear i DID go on a rant. But lets face it, how boring is it reading oh we had such a lovely time blah blah blah Anyhow, big thanks and hugs and kisses to Keith who booked us for the gig in the local Village Hall. A group of girlies turned up in binliners and blonde wigs looking very ace and stylish. I must get on eof those LOL Last night we were up the road for a change and gigged in the wonderful Telfords warehouse, glad to say it was sold out and they were queuing around the block. I even spotted my local Butcher who came to see us all they way from Newbridge Awwwwwwww. Be funny going in on Monday for the Beef for my Cawl LOL So there you go all upto date with the mad goings on in Bleach land. Decemeber is mightly busy and I have a solo gig on Monday. Phew... I am going to be one tired pup. Sam x
